Format and factory data reset on Motorola Moto G 2013 with Android 5.0.2 Lollipop

How to format a Moto G

Are you looking for how to format a Moto G? Some time ago we published an article about the arrival of Android 5 to Motorola Moto G 2013, in which we told you some of the news and how to update.

It is possible that after receiving Android 5, the performance of your terminal has been reduced or it gives problems for some reason, and to try to solve it, the best option is to carry out a factory reset o hard reset.

In this post, we are going to see written and video two different ways to do a complete format when Motorola Moto G 2013 with Android Lollipop. Let's see it?

✅ Reset / format the Motorola Moto G to factory mode

After resetting to factory mode this deviceis will erase all data it contains, since it does not have an SD card. This includes photos, contacts, music, videos, apps… Any information that we have included since we bought the device. Therefore, if you do not want to lose all that data, you must perform a backup copy of your data on your computer.

Resetting the device will also help us remove malware or viruses.

We can do this process two forms different:

?Format / Reset Moto G from settings menu

This way is the easiest and fastest. We are going to Settings > Backup & reset > Factory data reset. After confirming these steps, and a few minutes, it will be formatted.

✍ Reset / format a Moto G from Recovery mode using buttons

If your screen does not work correctly or does not let you enter the "settings" menu for some reason, we can restore it from the recovery mode, using the power and volume up/down buttons.

  1. For that, we turn off the device completely.
  2. Next, we press the on/off and volume down buttons for about 3 seconds and release them at the same time.
  3. A series of options will appear and to scroll through them we will have to use the lower volume. We are pressing it until we reach "Recovery" and click the button turn up the volume, which will do the accept/confirm function.
  4. It will take us to a screen with the Motorola logo and after a few seconds we will see a second black screen with the Android doll lying down and open next to a text: “No commands”.
  5. We keep pressed on/off and, without releasing it, press one time volume up and we release both.
  6. We are already in the Recovery menu.
  7. Let Wipe data / factory reset and in this case, to confirm, we must press the button on off, not the volume up as before.
  8. A confirmation screen will appear with many No and a single Yes, so that we do not make a mistake and accidentally delete all the data.
  9. We stand on the option Yes and press the power button to confirm.

Done, all the data will have been deleted and hopefully, the problems that the mobile may have will also have been corrected.

I can't go back to factory mode
Hello, I have a 2nd generation motorcycle and I want to return it to factory mode but when I go to configuration it appears that this option is not enabled and I want to do it externally as you explain, but when it reached point 5 of pressing the on button and when I turn up the volume, the other options that they explain no longer appear and it just turns on again. I want to return it to factory mode because calls do not come in and some cell phone options are not enabled.

What happens is that at the moment you are going to restart the factory following the steps, it returns to the menu where you exit the recovery option and so on... when you do the follow-up again, exactly the same thing happens and it does not let it start, and they start to appear at the bottom m,messages in english.
