If you see advertising or posts about smartphone features, you will always see that they refer to the processor cores. Thus, we can see how Android phones can be Quad Core, Octa Core or more recently we are starting to see Deca Core.
We tend to think that the greater the number of cores, the greater the performance that the device will provide us. But the reality is that this is only half true.
Is a processor with many cores really better?
What are processor cores for?
The processor cores are distributed along with the architecture, the work that the processor has to do in functions such as power on or multitasking. Therefore, it is easy to think that if we have more cores, the work will be more distributed and our Android mobile will work more smoothly.
But the reality is that if our device does not have a good architecture or has a low clock speed, no matter how many cores it has, the performance will not be entirely acceptable. This means that many times, a processor with higher speed and fewer cores, than one that has 10 cores but whose speed is lower. But the cores are always more striking, for a matter of publicity.
What we must take into account to obtain a good performance
If you want an Android mobile that has good performance, in addition to the cores, you must also take into account the speed of the processor, as we have already indicated.
Another aspect that considerably influences that we can use even the most demanding apps without them getting stuck in the RAM. A smartphone with more RAM, latest generation chips and fewer cores usually performs better than one with little memory. Most of the mid-range devices sold today have 2GB of RAM, a figure that you can take as an absolute minimum.
Finally, we must not forget other aspects such as the battery or the operating system version, which also have a lot to say, in terms of efficiency and fluidity.
