How to add a photo to a contact
To establish a photograph as a contact image, we will first have to take the photograph of that person, of course.
Once this is done, we carry out the following steps taking into account that the contact must be saved on the phone. Which is where there are many more records to add/edit than on the SIM card, where we can only enter the name of the contact and their phone number.
- We go to contacts and choose the contact to which you are going to add the photo.
- On the contact details screen choose “edit contact”.
- After this, you will see that you can change the name, telephone, email, etc. Right next to the name you have the icon of a photo camera, you press it and you only have to choose the photo from where you have it, either in the photo gallery or taking the photo at that moment, clicking on «camera».
- After this you click on save and nothing else, you already have your contact identified with a photograph.
How to put photo to contacts from Google Photos
In the previous section, we have discussed how to put a photo of a contact, when we have that photo in the memory of our phone. But actually this is not necessary. As long as you have the photo uploaded to Google Photos, Google's cloud storage service, you can now add it to a contact. If you have never used this service, you should know that it is completely free and that you only have to log in with your Google account.
The process to add these photos is exactly the same that we have explained in the previous section. The only difference is that, after pressing the icon with the camera, if we have Google Photos installed, two options will appear: Gallery or Google Photos.
Choosing the second option, we will have at our disposal all the photos that we have uploaded to the service. Both those that are stored on our phone and those that are not.
It is important to keep in mind that some mobiles released on the market no longer have the traditional Photo Gallery. Directly, all the photos appear in Google Photos, even if they are not online. In this case, we will not have two options to choose from, but the process will be the same.
Why put a photo to a contact
When you walk into the contact list of your Android, you will be able to see how an icon with a shadow appears next to each one of them. In the event that you have added a photo, it will be that image that appears.
Therefore, it will be much easier and more comfortable for you to locate the person you want to call on the list. In addition, it is especially practical for contacts that you do not know very well or when you have several with repeated names.
But also, as we have already mentioned, in the event that a contact call you on the phone, your photo will appear on the screen. In this way, identifying which person is calling you at all times will become much faster and more comfortable. Something that will be especially appreciated by those who have a hard time reading the fine print.
In reality, today most of us who have Android mobiles are users of WhatsApp. And we are already used to finding profile photos in said application. Putting a photo to a Google contact implies the same but also applied to calls and SMS.
