Battery and performance of the Samsung Galaxy S6

Video analysis of the Samsung Galaxy S6

In the following video, we analyze the battery and the performance of what is probably the best Android smartphone of the moment. We show you screenshots of the battery, usage times, performance of the processors in the Antutu Benchmark tests, moving different apps, browsing the internet... So, you can see for yourself the performance of this mobile phone:

Battery

One of the sections that we consult the most lately in the devicesAnd it is that despite the great advances in screens or processors, it usually leaves us rather cold.

In this case, the Samsung Galaxy S6 has a battery of 2550 mAh not removable. Its performance is not too positive in terms of duration of use, in terms of charging if it stands out for being very fast. if we use it without any saving mode, it lasts us a few 20 hours and a half of use, with 2 hours and ten minutes of screen. As you can see, it is not what we expected from a device like this, although it would improve with a new Samsung Push Service update, but we do not know to what extent the autonomy will increase.

samsung galaxy s6 battery consumption

What we have verified is the difference in duration if we activate the Power saving mode. This mode lowers some features such as the performance of the device, although it is still excellent, or the brightness; but without being as strict as the Ultra Energy Saving mode, which will leave us with a few functions and a black and white screen. The autonomy increases this time until 1 day and 16 hours of use, with 2 hours and 45 minutes of screen.

samsung galaxy s6 battery consumption

It's not something to write home about either, but it's the consequences of such a compact design that a larger battery doesn't fit.

You have to take into account the different uses that each user will give it. For example, those who use more powerful games or listen to music with the speaker, will probably last less than someone who uses the device to answer messages and less intensive use.

Of course, not everything is bad news. The load of the Samsung Galaxy S6 is very fast, and also thanks to its wireless charging, we will not need any cable to return to 100%. With the charging cable, it was fully charged from practically 0%, at 1 hour and twenty minutes, with the fast charging charger that this Galaxy incorporates.

In summary, a battery that complies without standing out, but with a fast charging that sets it apart from other devices and gives you a point in your favor.

Performance

There are important news here, such as the fact that Samsung has left aside Qualcomm and its Snapdragon microprocessors, to bet on its own processors, in this case a powerful exynos 7420 64 bit. This processor is composed of 8 nuclei, four of them at 2,1 GHz for heavier tasks and the others four at 1,5 GHz when you don't need as much power.

Was Samsung right?

Well, to verify it, we will carry out a few tests, including the typical AnTuTu test and other more real and practical ones, such as how to open applications, show your fluency in them, browse the Internet, among others. Let's go there.

AnTuTu Benchmark

Well, before we start, let's say that the results can vary greatly if you have the energy saving mode activated, since this will reduce the power of the device. So we have decided to carry out two independent tests, one with full power and another with the saving mode active.

antutu test samsung galaxy S6

The results in both are amazing, surpassing any device today. It reaches 70.000 points if we take advantage of all the resources and 53.000 with the energy saving mode. If we compare it with the other most powerful smartphones on the market such as the Meizu MX4 or the Galaxy Note 4, it far exceeds them, since they do not reach 50.000.

antutu test samsung galaxy S6

In terms of video playback and compatibility, it supports almost all formats, except 8 that play partially (only video data) and another 2 that do not.

These are the numbers that Antutu throws up, but in the video we do some real performance tests, let's see.

Navigation

We carry out real navigation tests, to check fluidity, loading times...

As you can see in the video, the times are really good, despite not having fiber optics, and the fluidity is excellent, without appreciating any type of delay or lag. It even plays the videos very quickly, although we do jump times in them.

Applications

To check the performance within the apps, we are going to start with one about the weather. This app has different animations, such as showing the infrared satellite view according to the time. The load has been practically instantaneous.

Let's go now with Chrome, the default Android browser. It behaves the same as before, very fast and fluid.

Try the android game Asphalt 8: Airborne

It is the turn of Asphalt 8: Airborne, a racing game that requires great graphics processing and that not all smartphones are capable of moving correctly. The gaming experience is excellent, not only because of the audio, but also because of the graphics quality and fluidity, which also look even better as it is a 2K screen.

Conclusion

In conclusion, tell you that there are no delays when opening applications, or when moving through the menu and that it will support any game or application no matter how powerful it is. In this section, Samsung has done a great job and has been completely right with its perfect conjunction de Exynos 7420 14nm 8 core microprocessor (4×2,1 Ghz and 4×1,5 Ghz), their 3 GB of LPDDR4 RAM and also his internal storage, UFS 2.0, which are basically ultra-fast memory chips, in the style of SSD hard drives, which offer spectacular read and write speeds.

And you, what do you think of this Samsung Galaxy S6 review? Are you surprised by its performance? Is the battery interesting for you in terms of charging speed? You can leave us your opinions and answers in the comments at the bottom of this article.

Galaxy S6 after a few weeks
After a few weeks with a Galaxy S6, I have to say that it is a great phone... that I would not buy... that's right, the one I have has been through the operator, but after a few weeks of use I am clear that I would not buy a terminal like this…great screen…???…yes, of course, but you have to set it to minimum brightness so it doesn't eat up the battery…power…???…also, but you have to set it to saving mode for the same reason …premium materials, but you have to carry it in a case because it is very slippery, so much glass is what it has…in short, look at me and don't touch me.
In response to Jose Jorge…I have managed to double the duration with two applications…Grenify, which puts the applications into hibernation, so you don't have to uninstall anything…and Go Power Saver, which greatly optimizes consumption.

    battery life
Who guarantees that this battery will last for many years? What is the average useful life of this battery, besides that it is smaller than that of the S4 and the S5?

It is scary to invest so much in such an expensive Smartphone and then the battery does not have as much useful life and without being able to replace it. That is, if the battery is damaged, the cell phone is damaged and you lose the money.

I have doubts about this Samsung S6 smartphone, more than anything because of the battery, since it is not removable like previous models, what is the useful life of the battery, since it comes compact with the smartphone, and if the battery is damaged, the phone is no longer useful. BECAUSE I HAVE HAD S4 AND S5 AND I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE BATTERY IN BOTH

    Hey.

I just bought a second-hand S6 and the battery life wasn't that bad.
Can you tell me some advice to be able to lengthen it a bit?

    Scrap
My experience with less than 9 months since purchase:
I have had 4 Galaxy S phones and absolutely all of them have turned out bad. All had to go through the SAT at least twice, with less than a year of life.

Now I have the S6 Edge+ and it's exactly the same junk. Very expensive, but a real junk.

From my experience (I don't believe in coincidences) it's a waste of money when there are cheaper and, surely, better alternatives.

In addition, Samsung "spends" a lot on the "small" customers and their claims.

    battery
I have been very disappointed with the battery life. For the rest it goes very well, but I am not satisfied, much less with the duration.
    I'll change my terminal soon.

    Charge
Mr. Samsung wanted to ask if charging my cell phone for more hours is in danger of overcharging the battery.
What happens is that I charge it at night and just disconnect it the next day. Thank you very much, I await your prompt response.

I have some doubts with my S6
    Hello!

I bought my cell phone for Christmas and there are some things that don't convince me, like the battery that lasts very little or the internet that only comes out "H or H+" never 3G or 4G and to use snapchat for example it doesn't work for me , it does not charge me only with wifi. If anyone knows why it could be?
    Thank you very much.
