Bold and italics: try the WhatsApp news now

We recently had the news that WhatsApp had incorporated the possibility of writing in bold and italics, although it is an option that is not yet in the current version.

But, since you probably want to start using this option now, we are going to show you how to install the app official for Android, which allows you to use the bold, italic and strikethrough words. In this article we show you the steps:

Try now what's new in WhatsApp

Steps to install the new version

From the PC or your own Android mobile, we access the official WhatsApp page. At the top, we will select “Download”, and then we choose “Android”. As you will see, the official website is always ahead of the PlayStore and allows us to download the version now. 2.16.9. We press and we do it.

In the event that we have downloaded it to the computer, we will have to pass the apk to our smartphone. To do this, we can simply plug the phone using a USB cable and upload it to Google Drive to later download it to the phone.

To install it, we must have the option to allow installation from unknown sources activated. Once we do it, we will only have to click on the apk, so that the installation begins.

What's new in the latest version of WhatsApp

Once this is done, we will already have the latest version of WhatsApp Android on our smartphone, which allows us to use the following options:

  • If we want to put a text in bold, all we have to do is write it between asterisks, and we will have highlighted it when it appears in the chat window
  • In order to use the italics, we will only have to change the asterisks by underscores. For example, if we write _Hello_ How are you? We will only see the expression hello in italics.
  • If what we want cross out words, we must use virgulillas or the «tilde de la ñ» and the word that we write between two signs of this type, will appear crossed out.

At the moment, there will be no direct buttons that allow us to use these options, so we will have no choice but to learn these codes.

What we can do is use these functions simultaneously and put the same word in bold, italics and strikethrough.

Do you think it will be useful to include the italic, bold and strikethrough options in WhatsApp or do you think you will not use it? Leave us a comment and tell us your opinion about it, at the bottom of this article.
