All about the 5 new WhatsApp functions

During this week, new functions have arrived on WhatsApp to improve the experience of its users. The popular instant messaging application continues to innovate and so far this year it has launched a good number of new features that will interest you. Some of the new features are available in the beta version of the app, while others are already being released in the official version of WhatsApp.

The most notable new features that have arrived on WhatsApp are 5 and we present them to you below. We also want to share with you two more features that just came out of the oven as a bonus track.

5 new WhatsApp features

Pinning messages is one of the new features that WhatsApp announced.

  • Pin more than three chats. This is one of the most notable new features that WhatsApp has presented this week. This is the function to pin more than three chats to the top of the conversations list. Previously, you could only pin up to three chats, but now you can customize this option according to your needs.
  • Filter conversations. It is another interesting novelty that comes to WhatsApp in one of its beta versions. The Meta instant messaging app has added a feature to filter conversations within the chat list. You can now select whether you want to see only unread chats or only group chats.
  • Mention contacts in Status updates. WhatsApp is working on a feature that will allow specific contacts to be mentioned in Status updates. This could be useful to draw the attention of certain people to a particular update.
  • New search bar with Material Design 3 design. The application is implementing a new search bar at the top of the chat list, with a more modern and attractive design based on Material Design 3.
  • Sliding between navigation bar tabs. The latest beta of WhatsApp for Android has revealed that users will be able to slide between tabs in the bottom navigation bar when it is active.

How to pin messages on WhatsApp.

  1. You can post up to three messages at the top of a chat.
  2. Once pinned, the message will remain at the top of the chat as a banner for 24 hours, 7 days or 30 days.
  3. Tap the pinned message banner to go directly to the message in chat.
  4. The banner will show the total number of pinned messages if there is more than one. The most recent will appear first.
  5. Tap the banner to see the next pinned message.

To pin a message on Android, long press the message, tap the “more options” icon > “Pin”, then select how long you want to pin it for (24 hours, 7 days or 30 days), and finally tap “Pin”.

On iPhone, long press the message, tap the “more options” icon > “Pin”, then select how long you want to pin it for (24 hours, 7 days or 30 days).

On Web and Desktop, go to the message you want to pin and click the “menu” icon > “Pin message”, then select how long you want to pin it for (24 hours, 7 days or 30 days), and finally select “Pin”.

To unpin a message, repeat the steps above, but select the “Unpin” option instead of “Pin.”

In group chats, Admins can allow members to pin messages in group chat. If you pin a message in a group chat, a system message will be shared with all participants indicating that a message was pinned and who posted it.

  • Quick lock- You can quickly lock a chat by pressing and holding it.
  • Secret code- Instead of a PIN, you can use a secret code to lock any of your chats.
