The Huawei P40 camera setup could offer a total of five sensors

Huawei has had quite a difficult year after the Google ban, but that the company is still trying to put a brave face on bad weather.

It is preparing to launch its next flagship and the first leaks have now started to trickle in.

The latest one comes from leaker Yash Raj Chaudhary and gives us an insight about the Huawei P40 camera.

Huawei P40 camera sensor may be a 64MP unit from Sony

The high-end phones of the Chinese giant have made a name for their image quality and it seems that the Huawei P40 camera will be no different. The phone is designed to come with a Leica branded Penta lens camera system.

According to details provided by the elusive Yash Raj, the main camera will be a 686MP Sony IMX64 sensor with hardware stabilization. It will be accompanied with a 20MP ultra wide angle module, a 12MP phone lens, a macro camera and one more sensor.

The phone is also expected to feature 4K video recording support, and for those who think 8K video support should be present, let us tell you that this feature is beyond hype.

The Huawei P40's front-facing camera system will apparently have two sensors housed in a double punch-hole. It will supposedly consist of a main sensor and an ultra-wide unit.

Apart from that, the tipster also revealed some other details about other specifications of the phone. It's likely to come with a 2-inch 6.5K OLED display, which according to a previously leaked render won't be as curved as the Mate 30 Pro.

The display is speculated to support a 120Hz refresh rate and will have a 98 percent screen-to-body ratio. The leaker also claims that the phone will have a 5500mAh battery made of graphene materials to keep the overall weight down and to maintain the slim form factor of the phone.

Also, the Huawei P40 will likely support Huawei's 50W flash charging and be backed by the Kirin 990 5G microprocessor.

While the Huawei P40's purported camera setup and other hardware look impressive, the company might have a hard time selling it outside of China without the official version of Android.

According to rumours, we could see the phone early next year and if things go according to plan between China and the US we will likely see the flagship launched in additional markets.
