Samsung introduces a new AI-based product called Neon; Could it replace Bixby?

At CES 2020, Samsung will introduce a new 'artificial intelligence-based product' called Neon. The company has already created a dedicated website and even a Facebook page and Twitter for Neon. The pages have a lone post that reads: "NEON = ARTIFICIAL HUMAN"in multiple languages.

Oh, and there's the incessant use of the phrase "Have you ever met an "ARTIFICIAL"?" All this hype around its AI prowess could mean it could be a new AI on device exclusive to the series. Galaxy S11.

The product is being developed by Samsung Technology & Advanced Research Labs, an independent unit of Samsung Electronics. According to reports, Neon can speak, recognize and think on a human level, or so he claims.

Will Samsung's Neon replace Bixby?

Considering that Neon is advertised to do almost everything that Bixby can (or claims), this is the first question that comes to mind. Despite customer claims to the contrary, Samsung seems to think Bixby can still be saved.

Its only trade-in feature is Bixby Routines, as it has the potential to replace automation apps like Tasker.

It is obvious that Samsung has invested huge amounts of money to develop both Bixby and Neon. Samsung certainly won't give Bixby the full blow. Perhaps Neon could take on some of the existing Bixby roles and focus on other things like Routines.

So that brings us back to the original question. What is NEON? It could be an AI on the device talking to you along the way. It could even have a full 3D interface with a customizable face, body, and voice.

Either way, the chances of Neon working in tandem with Bixby are higher than replacing it outright. The only thing that worries us is another dedicated button that I will have to reassign on my mobile, if it is Samsung, of course.
