Xiaomi is expected to launch the new budget flagship Pocophone F1 later this year. But until now not much was known about its technical specifications.
Fortunately, a new listing on Geekbench has apparently given us some clues as to what to expect from the second-generation PocoPhone smartphone. Sadly, the chipset is unlikely to be the top-of-the-line Snapdragon 865, as the device scored just 547 points in the single-core test and 1.767 points in the multi-core benchmark.
Speculation suggests that it could actually be a redesigned version of the Redmi K30, which launched last month with either the Snapdragon 730G (4G) or the Snapdragon 765G (5G) under the hood. While these two chipsets are capable in their own right, they are still a long way from the flagship performance of the SD865, which could disappoint potential buyers of the Poco F2.
Pocophone X2 or Pocophone F2
Meanwhile, it's not immediately clear whether Xiaomi will eventually market the device as Poco X2 (as indicated on Geekbench), or whether it will retain the Poco F2/Pocophone F2 branding in accordance with the first-generation model's naming convention.
However, the company has already applied for a trademark under the name "Poco F2", which could offer a clue as to the company's plans with the upcoming device. Either way, the successor to the beloved Poco F1 is coming soon, which is great news any way you look at it.
In case you don't already know, Xiaomi Indonesia general manager and global Pocophone boss Alvin Tse recently confirmed that the company plans to revive the Poco brand in 2020, though he didn't elaborate on it.
That said, since the leaks have started to be daily and fast, we should expect more concrete information in the coming weeks.
