Huawei is the first smartphone maker to use the periscope telephoto lens to enable unprecedented optical zoom and this lens is expected to be equipped on more Huawei smartphones next year, according to analyst comments.

According to information coming from Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst at TF International Security. He specializes in mobile technology and comments on Huawei mobile phones, which will come equipped with periscope-type telephoto lenses by the coming year 2020.

After Google ban Huawei, the Chinese technology company, does not stop innovating and creating quality products, such as its latest cutting-edge phone, the Huawei Mate 30 Pro.

We will have to see if they can overcome the loss of Google services with their Huawei mobile system.

The upcoming Huawei P40 Pro will use a newly designed 8MP periscope telephoto lens with F 4.0 aperture, making it Huawei's first P40 Pro smartphone with 10X optical zoom.

The new periscope lens includes a mirror and prism structure as a key improvement in optical zoom specifications. In comparison, the P30 Pro only comes with a prism lens, but the P40 Pro periscope lens has adopted 2 mirrors and an extended field of view, to achieve 10X optical zoom.

It is rumored that Huawei will also use the 5X optical periscope lens in other smartphones including Huawei P40, high-end Nova phones, high-end Honor phones and high-end Mate phones.

The sensor shipment record for the camera reveals that Huawei has made the first shipment of 10X periscope zoom lens targeting around 9 million units. Also from 5X periscope zoom to around 28 million units.

A total periscope lens count reaches 37 million in 2020 compared to 9 million in 2019.

Huawei P30 Pro is currently the only Huawei smartphone that comes with a periscope camera and with an upgrade to 10X. If the news is confirmed, the Huawei P40 Pro may create more headlines than its predecessor.
