How to Quit YouTube Videos in Full Screen Quickly

YouTube has been getting a lot of features lately, like the integration of Google Search results alongside videos and the new video chapters feature. Now, along with these features, Google added another quite nifty feature that went unnoticed.

This feature allows the user to exit the full screen view of a video in the YouTube app with a single swipe.

Before this gesture, when in full screen mode, users needed to tap on that little square in the bottom right corner. This was quite inconvenient as most of the time, instead of tapping the square icon, users mistakenly tapped the seek bar and skipped to the end of the video.

Now back to the handy gesture, what you can do is, while watching a video in the app, you can simply swipe down from anywhere on the screen to exit full screen view.

With this feature, users, who usually keep auto-rotate off, can now easily exit full-screen mode without the hassle of precisely tapping the square button in the bottom corner.

So go and try it. If it doesn't work, try updating the app from the Play Store or App Store.

Now, as the feature is still in its early stages, UI is slightly changed when exiting full screen mode. It works fine though and I'm sure Google will fix the visual issues with a future update.

If it's a new feature you've enjoyed, please leave a comment below with your thoughts.
