An example of cutting-edge technology in 5G
One of the relevant and recent use cases where a cutting-edge technological solution has been developed using the communication capabilities of 5G is found in the Port of Malaga.
The project has consisted of control in real time the accesses of the different types of vessels at the mouth of the port area and has focused mainly on security.
The design of this technological solution allows recording any circumstance related to each vessel and generate value information to port personnel about vessels that are not allowed to circulate.
For the development of this solution, specific technological solutions for ports have been applied, making use of analytical capabilities and artificial intelligence capabilities to get valuable information from events that can be captured with advanced cameras and 5G communications tools. It coupled with a 5G communications network deployment and its node in Malaga to be able to process the data in a location close to the port where to host the necessary applications and network functions.
This technology allows to identify, through a video, using computational vision and analytical models, the vessels that are not allowed access to the port. Being able to process the information in real time allows the port staff to immediate anomaly detection, to be able to generate the corresponding alarms and launch the actions marked in the action protocol.
In view of the results of this innovative project, sThey will consider the possibility of transferring this 5G solution to other Spanish ports.
