Huawei did not let the uncertain future get in the way of its ambition and has presented the Huawei Mate X2, it is the third phone folding from the Chinese company. That said, the new Mate X2 comes with an 8-inch OLED main screen that has a resolution of 2480x2220 pixels, a touch sampling rate of 180Hz, and a refresh rate of 90Hz. The outer screen is 6.45 inches with a 90Hz refresh rate and a higher 240Hz touch sampling rate. The phone is powered by HiSilicon's 9000nm Kirin 5 chipset, along with 8GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage.
Cameras
On the back of the Huawei Mate X2, we have a quad-lens camera setup with a 50-megapixel main camera, a 16-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 12-megapixel telephoto lens that has 3x zoom and 8x periscope. megapixel, zoom lens that has a 10x optical zoom.
Battery and operating system
The phone also comes with a rather disappointing 4.500mAh battery and 55W fast charging speed. On the software side, the Huawei Mate X2 runs EMUI on top of Android 10 and, unsurprisingly, there's no support for Google apps or services.
Availability and price
In terms of launch and availability, the Huawei Mate X2 it will be sold in China from February 25, later this month. There's no word on a global launch yet, but we won't be surprised if the device never makes it overseas. The foldable phone costs 17,999 yuan ($2,785) for the 256GB variant, and a ridiculous 18,999 yuan ($2,940) for the 512GB version.
With the fate of Huawei hanging in the balance, the Mate X2 comes as a surprise and shows that Huawei is not ready to give in just yet. We're not sure if this phone will help the company regain lost glory, but at least it's good to see they're not willing to give it all up and move on.
