Steam Game Festival: Spring Edition lets you try 40 indie games for free

Valve has just released the Spring Edition of the Steam Game Festival highlighting 40 new and previously unreleased games that were originally set to be announced at GDC 2020 before the event was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The games come from developers of games small and independent who have been affected by the cancellation of the conference.

The festival kicked off on Wednesday, March 18, and will continue through Monday, March 23.

Steam Game Festival: Spring Edition lets you try 40 indie games for free

The Game Festival features 40 indie games that can be previewed with free demos via Steam. On its official store, Steam said the list includes demos and other featured games from Indie MEGABOOTH, The MIX, Day of the Devs, and WINGS.

You can take a look at the full list and try them out for yourself by visiting the official Steam Game Festival page.

The first edition of the Steam Game Festival took place last December following a collaboration between Valve and Geoff Keighley, the founder of The Game Awards. The event, which featured 14 games, took place over a 48-hour period on December 12 and 13. In a tweet earlier this week, Keighley said that he and Valve plan to host more such events throughout the year, though exact details have yet to be revealed.

He further said that the festival may also be available on other platforms in the future.

With the coronavirus pandemic forcing more and more people to stay indoors, games and movies are two of the only ways to kill boredom for most people.

In that sense, this is a good time to launch the spring edition of the Steam Game Festival. So if you're one of those gamers who wants to try something new to kill your time while you're on lockdown without leaving home, head over to Steam and try out some new indie games right now!
