And the Samsung Galaxy A Quantum arrived. Samsung Electronics and SK Telecom today announced a new mobile phone, powered by quantum encryption technology. Called the Galaxy A Quantum, the device is essentially a remastered Galaxy A71 5G, released early last month.

According to SK Telecom, the phone generates encryption keys based on random numbers thrown by the chipset, which increases the security of the encryption-decryption process that is at the heart of all authentication protocols.

Other than the QRNG chip, the device is essentially the same as the Samsung Galaxy A71 5G. It sports a 2400-inch FHD+ (1080 x 6.7) Infinity-O Super AMOLED display and is powered by the Exynos 980 chipset. It also comes with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage that can be expanded using a microSD card.

Imaging options include a rear-facing quad camera setup consisting of a 64MP primary shooter, a 12MP wide-angle camera, a 5MP camera, and a 5MP depth sensor.

On the front, there is a 32MP camera for selfies and video calls.

The Samsung Galaxy A Quantum packs a 4.500mAh battery, an in-display fingerprint scanner, and runs Android 10 out of the box.

The Galaxy A Quantum is currently available for pre-order in South Korea for 640,000 won (around $520) and will go on sale in the country from May 22. It's not immediately clear if it will be available in international markets, but we expect to know more in the coming days.
