Redmi may have been the first to adopt the recently announced Snapdragon 765G chipset to launch its first 5G smartphone, Redmi K30 5G, in December.
But that doesn't mean Realme has been sitting around watching time go by. The company started getting noticed for its first 5G smartphone, Realme X50 5G, about a month ago and has already gone official just a few days ago in China. There is also a series of tricks to use on Realme that will help you optimize your time on mobile.
Realme X50: specifications and features
Screen
Realme X50 features a glass sandwich design with a 3D curved back and Gorilla Glass 5 protection on the back. The device features a 6.57-inch Full-HD+ IPS LCD display with a 1080 x 2400p resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and a 90.4 percent screen-to-body ratio.
The screen is an LCD panel, therefore Realme X50 too includes a side-mounted fingerprint sensor unlike an on-screen sensor.
Rear and front cameras (for selfies)
The punch-hole dual camera includes a 471MP (f/16) IMx2.2 primary camera and an 8MP (f/2.0) ultra-wide-angle lens with a 105-degree field of view (FOV).
This is a more capable camera setup compared to the Redmi K30 5G, which has a secondary depth sensor in the punch-hole at the front. However, now you will be able to capture amazing group selfies with the Realme X50 5G.
Microprocessor Snapdragon 765G
Under the hood, we have known for a long time that the Realme X50 will be powered by Snapdragon 765G chipset. It is the third smartphone, after the Redmi K30 5G and Reno 3 Pro, to launch with this integrated 5G chipset. It is paired with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. There's also a 8mm water cooled copper tube, on board to improve high temperatures.
As you read on, you will realize that Realme X50 has some similarities with the Redmi K30, including the dual-camera hole-punch display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Both also come equipped with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor due to the LCD screen.
It's also no surprise that both the Redmi K30 and Realme X50 pack a very similar camera setup.
Realme X50 features a vertical quad-camera setup on the rear. It houses a 64MP primary sensor (f/1.8) Samsung ISOCELL GW1, along with a 12MP telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom (up to 20x hybrid zoom), an 8MP ultra-wide camera with 119-degree FOV, and a dedicated 2MP macro lens. The macro lens will allow you to get up to 4 cm closer to the object you want to photograph.
Color OS 7 operating system
Realme X50 5G is the company's first smartphone, which launches with ColorOS 7 based on Android 10 out of the box. Not only that, it gives us a first close look at the Realme UI that the company has been hard at work over the past few months.
The UI still looks very similar to ColorOS 7: skinned and minimalist (not exactly stock Android), but the company has redesigned the icons and added its own touches here and there.
Battery and charging technology
Finally, the android phone It also comes equipped with a 4,200mAh battery with support for VOOC 4.0 fast charging. It's the same 30W fast charging technology that the Realme X2 supports.
Realme X50 also supports a charging port USB Type C, Dolby Atmos and hi-fi audio, but there's no 3.5mm headphone jack on board. Could this be a deal breaker for some users? Or is it Realme's ploy, similar to Apple's, to market its Buds Air wireless earphones?
Price and Availability
The Realme X50 5G will be available in three RAM and storage configurations: 8GB + 128GB, 6GB + 256GB and 12GB + 256GB. The price of the Android phone from 322 euros to change for the 8GB variant. However, you will have to pay €349 and €388 for the 6GB and 12GB variants respectively.
As it has now become a tradition, Realme has also launched 2 Realme X50 Master Edition variants created by renowned Japanese designer Naoto Fukasawa. It will be available in gold and black color variants.
Realme X50 (minus the master editions) is now available for pre-order in China and will go on sale from January 14. It will be available in 2 color variants namely Polar White and Glacier Blue.
