Now that LG is out of the mobile phone business, should you sell your LG phone or keep it?

LG presented its latest interface a long time ago and that presaged something. Finally closes the business of the mobile and it leaves a bad taste in our mouths for many of us. Think what you want about the company, but LG brought a lot of innovation to the smartphone industry, and to see such a giant manufacturer fall is sad. However, what is done is done and there is nothing we can do. This leaves Samsung in charge of the entire South Korean tech world.

The total shutdown of LG mobile phones also leaves many questions for smartphone users LG existing worldwide. Especially since they are wondering what will become of their Android phones and if there will be software updates or new versions of Android. Although LG has shed light on the matter to some extent, many users are still wondering what the future holds.

LG is finally shutting down and should sell its phone

For those who still don't believe it, LG released an earlier official statement; You can read it below.

Current inventory of LG phones will continue to be available for sale. LG will provide service support and software updates for customers of existing mobile products for a period of time that will vary by region. LG will work in collaboration with suppliers and business partners during the closure of the mobile phone business. Details regarding employment will be determined locally.

Going forward, LG will continue to leverage its mobile expertise and develop mobility-related technologies such as 6G to help further strengthen competitiveness in other business areas. Core technologies developed during LG's two decades of mobile business operations will also be retained and applied to existing and future products.

Goodbye to LG technical support (it is not known when)

This all sounds reassuring, but LG has explicitly stated that it will only be for a "period of time" and that it will "vary by region". This means that LG could choose to remove support altogether, even if the phones are still eligible to have software support.

The company will continue to roll out the OS update Android 11 for compatible devices after closing. Also plan to implement the update Android 12 for some of your devices. However, deployment plans may vary based on Google's distribution schedule and device performance during internal testing. The company will also use core technologies from its smartphone business for other future products.

LG Velvet

Now, the entire closing process, according to LG, will be completed on July 31. However, some LG mobile phone models may still be available to buy in the market. While it's sad to see the company exit the market, we could expect third-party manufacturers to release LG-branded smartphones under a brand license partnership.

Considering that LG mobile phones will officially be a thing of the past, many LG smartphone users are wondering what to do with their smartphones and honestly, selling them seems to be the right idea at the moment. Most flagship phones can fetch a good price on the secondary market. However, it would be ideal to sell the phone as soon as possible, before the value drops further.

At this point, rather than hoping you'll get ongoing software support, it's better to sell your phone on the secondary market and recoup any losses you incur, rather than wait for prices to drop further. In the meantime, we also advise against buying any phone the company is still selling, even if current inventory is still available while supplies last.

What are you planning to do with your LG phone? Will you sell it or keep it as an heirloom? Let us know in the comments.
