Huawei Mate Pad with perforated screen for November 25

Do you remember the rumors that Huawei would launch an Apple iPad Pro-like tablet, with a hole-punch camera on the front?

In fact, the rumors were true, as Huawei CEO Richard Yu took to Weibo to confirm that the Mate Pad tablet would be unveiled on November 25 at an event in Shanghai, China.

Huawei shared the official invite for its upcoming Mate Pad tablet series on Weibo. This tablet was previously rumored to be called the MediaPad 7, a successor to the MediaPad 6, which was introduced in June earlier this year.

Huawei Mate Pad, Huawei's new Android tablet

However, the company seems to have decided to bring its new devices under the "Mate" brand.

As you can see from the header image, Huawei Mate Pad will be the world's first Android tablet to feature a "punch-hole display" design. Since it is adopting a hole-punch design, the bezels around the screen are very small.

The Mate Pad will bring stylus support, with the stylus on the edge for fast charging, and a keyboard accessory. It looks and feels like an Apple iPad Pro clone inside and out. No doubt about it. There is a rumor that the Mate Pad will have two variants: a standard and a Pro variant.

Talking about the hardware, Huawei Mate Pad is expected to be processed by Kirin 990 chipset and will be paired with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

It will house a powerful 7,000 mAh battery with support for Huawei fast charging technology. Chances are you'll be running Android, but you won't find Google Mobile Services on board, after the Huawei banned by Google.

Not much is known about the display and cameras on board at this time. Some leaks have suggested that the Mate Pad will house a QHD+ OLED display, but the size is unknown.

It can be seen sporting a dual camera system and we think that Huawei will offer some decent cameras, like in its mobile phones, by Leica? We will update official pricing and availability details when the tablet launches in China later this month.

Although the Android tablet market is not exactly booming, Huawei may be creating its ecosystem HMS Huawei mobile services.
