El dark mode it has finally caught up with the masses as almost all apps have adopted the feature to improve user experience.
Unsurprisingly, Gmail doesn't want to be left behind either. Google recently updated the popular email app to implement the long-awaited dark theme.
Since I like to take a quick look at recent emails and respond to some important ones before closing my eyes, I wholeheartedly welcome this new feature.
If you've been waiting for it too, head over to the settings to enable dark mode in Gmail on your Android and iOS device.
Activate dark mode in Gmail on Android and iOS
The process of activating the dark mode in the Gmail app in the latest versions of Android and iOS13 is quite similar. Interestingly, it's a bit different in iOS 11 and 12. Regardless of what platforms you're on, make sure to update the app before proceeding with the guide.
Also, keep in mind that this is a gradual rollout, so you may not see the feature on your device yet. We attach the screenshots for the Android device in English. The steps are essentially the same on iPhone, so you'll have no problem following it.
1. Start the application gmail on your device.
2. Now touch the menu button in the upper left corner and select Setting
3. Then touch General configuration.
Note: On your iOS or iPadOS device, skip step 4, as you'll find the Theme option within Settings.
4. Then choose Theme.
5. Finally, select the Dark option.
Note that on your iPhone or iPad running iOS 11 or iOS 12, you'll get a Dark theme toggle to turn it on or off. As there is no system-wide dark mode before iOS 13, you won't find any "System Default" option here.
That's it! Now, go ahead and browse your email with complete peace of mind. The screen will look quite better to the eyes. So they won't get tired when you're tackling emails in the dark.
In addition to relaxing your eyes, the dark theme will also help your device last a little longer. Later when you want to disable it, please go back to theme settings again and then choose clear or system default.
Use dark mode in the Gmail app on iOS and Android
As you can see, there is a lot of good in a dark theme. In addition to transforming the entire look of the user interface, it also plays a good role in helping devices last longer.
So, I'm glad the popular email app has finally gotten on board. Is there an app you wish would get this feature sooner rather than later?
