How to create direct access to web page in Android

create web page shortcut

Most of us tend to always access the same web pages. We can all enter a new one someday, but the thickness is usually always the same. Therefore, create shortcut to web page can greatly facilitate navigation.

Normally, the websites we visit most often are saved to bookmarks or favorites. It is a very comfortable way to always have them at hand, and also quite organized. But the reality is that we always have 3-4 websites that we tend to visit more frequently than the rest, and ideally we always have them close.

Direct access is an icon that takes us to the web page that we want to be able to find on the home page when we open the browser. In this way, it is not even necessary to enter the favorites section to have them at hand.

Although shortcuts can be created almost anywhere in the browser, in this article we are going to focus on the ones that are probably the most used: Chrome and Firefox. But the process is usually quite similar in the rest of the browsers, so if you use another model, it probably won't be too different.

Create web page shortcut in Chrome

If we want to create a web page shortcut and the browser we use is Chrome, we have two options at our disposal. The first one is to add a page that we are browsing at that moment as a direct access. In other words, if we are browsing a site and we want it to stay as the home page, we can do it easily.

The first thing we have to do, logically, is to enter the site that we want to add as a direct access. Once we are in it, we will have to click on the button with three points that we can find in the upper right. In the options menu that will appear, all we have to do is select the option Add to Home. Once we click on it, we will see how a direct access to said website appears on the home screen.

The second way of doing it may be easier if we know the link by heart to the page that we want to have added to the beginning. In addition, we must bear in mind that we will only find it if we already have some websites as direct access.

And it is that when we have several shortcuts added we can see how there is a last access that is a button with the + sign.

The first thing we must do is click on this button. At that moment a tab will open with two fields: Name and URL. In the name we must write the name that we want to put to the access. In the URL will have to go the link to the page.

Once we have done that we will have a direct access with the name that we have chosen, that if we click on it will take us to the site that we have decided. In this way, we will always have at hand the sites that we enter often.

Although in principle these steps are designed to add a direct access from the mobile, it is also possible to do it from the computer.

The process to create direct access to web page in Chrome for PC It is very similar to the one we have explained for smartphones. In fact, the second process that we have explained is exactly the same. But if what you want is to add a website you are browsing as a direct access, you will have to press the button with three dots that you will find in the upper right. At that point, go to More tools and you will find the option Create shortcut.

Direct access to the web from Firefox

As in Chrome, if we use Firefox we can also create direct access to a web page that allows us to have our favorite sites on the home page. The result is exactly the same: when you open the browser you will find a series of buttons that will take you directly to your favorite websites. And the process that you must carry out to have these shortcuts at your disposal is also equally simple. You just have to follow a series of steps that are very similar to those that we have previously explained for Chrome, but adapted to Firefox:

  1. Open Firefox for Android
  2. Enter the web page to which you want to create the shortcut
  3. Press the Menu button, which you can find at the bottom of the screen or in the upper right corner depending on the device and the version you are using.
  4. Go to Page
  5. Tap Add Shortcut to Page

Once you have carried out all this process, you will simply have to open your browser and you will see how a series of buttons that will serve as shortcut to take you to the place you want. All you have to do is press the button you want and in a matter of seconds (as long as it takes your connection to take you) you will be on your favorite site.

In case you use firefox on pc, you even have the option to create a desktop shortcut to your favorite site. All you have to do is enter your favorite website and drag the icon that appears next to the URL to the desktop.

Thus, you will not even need to enter the browser to always have at hand the sites you visit often.

For the use of shortcuts to the web page to be really practical, it is important that we do not abuse them too much. In the event that we have too large a number of accesses, it is possible that finding the one we want ends up being so complicated that in the end it is more comfortable to enter the URL directly. Therefore, we recommend that instead of creating direct access to a large number of websites choose the ones you really use often. In this way, you will always have in an easy place to locate all the sites that may be useful to you.
