Are you still on 4G? Japan begins preparing for 6G launch in 2030

6G technology

The world will soon adopt the latest standard of 5G networks and several service providers are in the process of launching their 5G SIM cards.

Meanwhile, Japan has maintained its legacy of being one step ahead of the rest of the planet, as the country has already started planning and preparing a scheme for the introduction of 6G technology.

Japan has a goal of creating a network that is 10 times faster than the 5G network that has yet to be introduced. Along with Japan, South Korea, Finland and China have also started their research for the development of more efficient networks than 5G.

Research and development of 6G technology in Japan

According to the latest Nikkei report, Japan's Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications decided to establish a government and civil research partnership this month. The country will invest $2.03 billion in 6G research and development.

6G technology is expected to provide speeds 10 times faster than what the world will witness from 5G technology. The unused high-frequency waves will be used in the 6G network.

Developments to launch 6G technology

Companies aiming to introduce 6G technology early in the next decade have already started their research and development process. In November 2019, the Chinese government also stated that it will establish two research and development institutions for 6G technology.

Several universities in Finland and some government-affiliated institutions have also started the 6G research and development-based projects in the past year. LG Electronics and Samsung Electronics have already established their research centers for 6G technology in South Korea.

6G technology

Some network service providers in Japan are expected to launch 5G technology by the end of April 2020. The 5G network will soon gain popularity in the coming years, but several countries have already advanced their goal towards developing 6G technology, which will be much more capable in terms of data download and upload speed than 5G.
